Shrewsbury North West Relief Road planning application consultation period extended 
Shropshire Council has extended the consultation period on the Shrewsbury North West Relief Road planning application from the statutory 30 days to 56 days. The council says due to the significance of the planning application this will allow more time for people to consider the proposal and submit their comments. The council confirmed that a significant number of comments have been received regarding the planning application and will be taken into consideration before a decision is made.

Steve Cotterill set for a return to Montgomery Waters Meadow
Shrewsbury Town Football Club is delighted to report that Salop Manager Steve Cotterill is on course to return to Montgomery Waters Meadow for Saturday’s Sky Bet League One home fixture with Oxford United. It's only six weeks since Steve was discharged from Bristol Royal Infirmary Hospital and Town's Boss has been working incredibly hard during long walks, yoga classes, visiting the gym and using weights in order to return to Shropshire to his players prior to the end of the season.

Shrewsbury park and ride goes free for a fortnight

Shrewsbury's meole brace and harlescott park and ride services are free to use for two weeks from April 26 2021 in a bid to encourage people to visit the town centre and support the town's businesses. Shropshire Council says the Oxon park and ride service is due to start operating again in the near future – with the Oxon buses currently being used to provide free transport to Shrewsbury’s vaccination centres.

Motorists face delays for a month as Shrewsbury A5 works plough on
Work starting on May 3 and taking place until about June 14 will include pothole, footpath and drainage work near Shrewsbury and the replacement of street lighting near Nesscliffe. Shropshire Council said the area will see various closures as a result. This includes lanes four and five of the A5 westbound leading to Emstrey Roundabout; the dedicated lane leading from the southbound carriageway of the A5064 to the eastbound carriageway of the A5 and all footpaths near to the roundabout. The work is set to be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am and continue until May 15.

Date set for Shrewsbury 10k 2021 as race becomes centrepiece of running festival
Shrewsbury 10k will take place on Sunday, August 22, and will now be the centrepiece of Shrewsbury Running Festival. It was originally scheduled to take place in March. The 10K run, which will be held for the sixth time, will be the showpiece of a weekend of activities that also includes the Shrewsability Run on the same day. There are a limited number of places available, with numbers restricted to 2,000 runners across the weekend.
